Football: August 2009 ArchivesMike Stoops had his first press conference of the regular season and no, he did not name a starting quarterback. At this point do not hold your breath waiting for an announcement. He's already guaranteed that both guys will in the season opener against Central Michigan no matter who starts the game. The unfortunate part about this is that All-Conference Tight End Rob Gronkowski's chances of playing are looking very slim. Stoops said Big Rob's ... The Wednesday morning scrimmage was closed to the public and the media...Stats were not released...That sort of leads me to believe that the qb play was yet again less than stellar...But that's just speculation on my part... Some water cooler talk around campus is that there is concern about how long Robbie Gronkowski might be on the shelf...So cross your fingers on that one my friends... Fan Appreciation night is Saturday even... The overall thought from practice Thursday morning at Fort Huachuca despite constant rain and soggy weather was a good feeling...Some balls were dropped and some passes were behind receivers, but that happens in constant rain...Coach Stoops and offensive coordinator Sonny Dykes were pleased to practice away in the weather if for nothing more than the simple reason that the team could always face these conditions on any given Saturday...Vinnie<...
