Talking to Lute Olson, he's confident the Arizona Basketball team will be moving full speed ahead when the season tips off in November. What would you expect him to say.... he is the head coach. As of right now, today (May 20), you have to admit things look a little shaky. Chase is still undecided about making the move to the NBA. Nic Wise is 50/50 on whether he'll transfer or not, and he's not looking to make a decision until mid-summer. Brandon Jennings is signed but NCAA eligibility requirements remain an obstacle. Emmanuel Negedu was granted a full release from his National Letter of Intent (not like he was going to come here anyway). You see what I mean... coach says things are going along smoothly, but on the outside looking in; it doesn't LOOK that way. I'm not trying to just speak on the pessimistic speculations, but you have to call it like you see it. Even though Negedu is gone, Chase and Nic could come back and Jennings' situation may take care of itself sooner than later. With the recent commitment of Kyle Fogg (Brea, CA), UA still has one more scholarship to give. New assistants Mike Dunlap and Russ Pennell said that quality players are out there, you just have to find them. If they follow up their positive talk with positive action (given the return of Chase and Nic), I think the 2008-2009 Arizona Basketball season will be better than we can imagine.
