Arizona’s 2006 softball team will receive its national championship rings during halftime of tonight’s game. The national championship was the 17th for the University of Arizona and the seventh for the softball program (1991, ‘93, ‘94, ‘96, ‘97, 2001 and 2006) and head coach Mike Candrea.

The rumors about the status of Arizona basketball player JP Prince are all over the map...Some reports had him ill against Samford...Another rumor has his attitude way out of check and Lute simply exercising the best option...There has been no official word form the athletic department on this future...Still seems to be up in the air...Vinnie

The Tucson Sidewinders have announced Tucsonan Bill Plummer as the Manager of the Sidewinders for the 2007 season. Plummer becomes the fifth Manager in Sidewinders history, taking over a club that went 98-54 to win both the Pacific Coast League and Triple-A Championships.

Coming into the month of November the Cats were 3-5 and were getting set for a month where 3 of their last 4 games would come against ranked opponents (at the time). Two weeks later the Cats are now 5-5 with an opportunity to position themselves for a bowl bid (a first since 1998). The best part about the situation is that Arizona is 5-3 during November under Mike Stoops, and they seem to have found a swagger that comes with winning games. ...

Once again a ranked team came into Bear Down country during our homecoming celebration, and once again we exposed their weaknesses. The Wildcats football team pulled a stunning upset over the No. 8 ranked California Golden Bears to even their record at 5-5 and put them within one victory of bowl game eligibility.
