A former Arizona State University football star
was sentenced Friday to 80 years in prison for the sexual assaults
of two women in 2003.
Mitchell Freedman, known as "Fright Night" for his crushing
hits on the field, was accused of attacking the victims at
gunpoint.
A jury in Phoenix convicted Freedman on 15 counts, including
kidnapping, aggravated assault, sexual assault and sexual abuse in
June.
Freedman, 30, was sentenced to 16 years on each of the five
counts of sexual assault, to run consecutively, the Maricopa County
Attorney's office announced.
The sentences on the remaining counts are to be served
concurrently.
