I filed a story on Monday updating people on the situation regarding 25-year-old Lisa Berrie, who police say was strangled to death by her boyfriend in their Oro Valley apartment on Aug. 12. Friends have established a memorial fund for Berrie's two children. People can donate by going to any Wells Fargo located within Basha's grocery stores. Meanwhile, the people at "Emerge! Center Against Domestic Abuse" wanted me to share som... This first two days of this week took on a rather negative tone. On Sunday I covered an apartment fire. Fortunately, nobody died or suffered any injuries, but a young, single mother, lost everything. On Monday I covered the death of 17-year-old who was supposed to be starting his senior year at Catalina Magnet High School. Tuesday, however, I had the pleasure of doing a story on a man named Carlos Franco. He's a bus dispatcher... So how does a school go about recruiting students? It's a question parents and faculty members from Wrightstown have tried to answer this summer. The small school on Tucson's East side narrowly escaped the chopping block earlier this year when the TUSD board voted not to close schools. In the meantime, people associated with the school launched a massive advertising campaign to recruit students and, subsequently, ensure its survival f... Since then, I've only done a handful of other stories related to the mission, that is until a group of scientists announced at Mission Control here in Tucson today that they've discovered water on the red planet.
