Dan Davis: May 2006 ArchivesAs I was heading up the interstate to Phoenix, and I was pretty happy to be going home. It's been terrific two weeks, and I've really warmed up to southern Arizona, but I'm ready to get to get back to a regular routine. I did, however, thoroughly enjoy being on the road and meeting new people. For some of the crew, we went to new places that were fun to explore. Needless to say, I'e been around for quite some time so there... I got my first laugh at just after 4 this morning when I drove past Scott's car and saw it had been TP'd.
It's just a short drive from Bisbee to Tombstone, and even though I got here at 11 a.m., my room was ready. Since my stories were done earlier, I have the day free and that means a two-hour nap before Tara and Scott come knocking to use my computer. We're staying at a new Holiday Inn Express, and it's very nice....Wi-Fi, good air conditioning and thick towels. It's sometimes hard to get a good night's sleep in a hotel; I'm fin... Bisbee lived up to it's reputation as a unique place with lots of characters walking the streets. We were all pretty happy to spend the weekend at home, even though it ended up being only a day and a half. It was good to see Marty and the Queen of Clean this morning. (Click their photo for a larger image. Want to see their antiquing segment? What a great town Jerome turned out to be, and I'm talking about the people, not the buildings. Just as soon as we got in to town on Wednesday, people were greeting us with open arms. We even had time AFTER OUR WORK WAS DONE, to go enjoy some cold ones at the Spirit Room. Met some leathered up bikers from Holland there, some local town folk, and I almost beat Scott at pool so it was a good afternoon. I think one of the great th... This morning's show from Sedona went great, but you sure wouldn't know it if you had been here early this morning. We seemed to hit bottom today because we had some communication problems -- camera people were in a panic because they weren't sure what they were supposed to be shooting, but people were yelling for the shot. >> Continue reading: Live from Sedona What a wild morning this turned out to be. By now you know that the station lost power overnight, and it was a major scramble to get things organized to make the show happen. Good people back at the station were in a clutch, but they came through it with flying colors. >> Continue reading: Grand Canyon Our first show is now done, and done well may I say. Of course, with Lake Powell as our backdrop, how could we go wrong? We did have one problem -- our earpieces didn't work for about the first hour, so we couldn't hear anything from the station, but we survived. >> Continue reading: Lake Powell |
