Bradley Handwerger: May 2009 ArchivesThis is a story I'll get around to eventually, but there's other ones I'm working on for now. But the AP's Brett Martel, a friend, colleague and darn good journalist, wrote a story about new Saints cornerback Jabari Greer. A lot going on today at Saints camp as it's the first day the media is allowed to check out OTAs (Organized Team Activities) as well as talk with Sean Payton and the players. Today was the first time we were allowed to watch, though the team's first one came Tuesday. Some quick observations before I get to transcribing and writing some stories:
Sit and Wait ... with a smile And that's good for New Orleans. No one around here is talking about South Beach as a Super Bowl site for 2013. Most of the local news outlets aren't even covering the event. Which means their bid isn't a serious one. I see no Phoenix TV stations, either. Both cities were basically in the game just in case a deal between the Saints and Sta... This "rumor" hasn't really gone away. You know the one I'm talking about. Running back Edgerrin James to the Saints. that one. And something tells me, it won't until either A) the Saints sign James or B) he signs somewhere else. Regardless of the Saints having Reggie Bush, Pierre Thomas, Lynell Hamilton and a few other guys, the... As reported here the other day, the Saints signed undrafted free agent offensive tackle Michael Brown. The move was made official Wednesday when the Saints announced it in the afternoon. To make room for Brown, the team waived wide receiver Chris Vaughn, a 6-foot-3, 221-pound receiver from Louisville. Brown (6-5, 300 pounds)... The Saints announced three more additions for this weekends rookie minicamp. Here are the bio's from the team. Herb Donaldson- 5-11, 220-pound running back from Western Illinois. He led Division I college football in rushing and scoring as a senior for the Leathernecks in 2008, averaging 162.2 rushing yards and 12.0 points per game (1,784 yards and 22 all-purpose touchdowns, 21 rushing). The St. Louis ... Per the release from the New Orleans Saints, here are your 2009 rookie free agents for the May 7-10 minicamp, which is not open to the media or public. Enjoy. Jonathan Casillas - Linebacker, Wisconsin (6-2, 226): Casillas was a three-year starter at Wisconsin, opening 36 of the 48 career games he played for the Badgers. Elected a captain for his final two seasons in Madison, the native of New Brunswic... I wrote a column yesterday about how this is a bad idea. Upon reflection, I still think it's a bad idea. After running through kickers like there was no tomorrow, Sean Payton and the Saints settled on kicker Garrett Hartley midway through this past season. The move worked - Hartley didn't miss a kick or an extra point and finally provided the Saints with some stability. Hartley talked with the Oklahoman out of Okl... Former Saints great Pat Swilling has a date at the College Hall of Fame for his days as a defensive end at Georgia Tech. He's already in the Saints Hall of Fame. Will he make it to the Pro Hall of Fame? ... |
