| EOSB Thursday Night Fireside Chat: Topic - Atlanta »
Welcome back EOSB fan. We love that you spend a little part of your day here with us. A little less to link to today as the Saints were off yesterday. But that doesn't mean the verbage isn't titillating or juicy. Lots of talk about going undefeated. Blah blah blah. More on that later. But for now, pick up a tasty plate of beignets and fill a heavy mug with chicory.
Yahoo! Sports puts up percentages involving playoff berths and after last week's win, the Saints are nearly 100 percent assured of a playoff berth. Over at the Bleacher Report, contributing writer Andy Munger says these Saints are for real. Um, welcome aboard Andy. Glad you could join the rest of the free world this week. Pat Yasinskas at ESPN.com wonders if these Saints can go undefeated. He thinks the biggest question mark to the season will come Nov. 30 against New England. Over at the T-P, John DeShazier says that Roman Harper is having his best season in his career. And much of it is thanks to Gregg Williams, the defensive guru. Meanwhile, P.J. Hill is no longer a Saints practice squad player. The Eagles picked him up this week. But that made room for Herb Donaldson to picked up and placed on the practice squad. Jim Mashek in the American Chronicle recounts the history of the Saints and Falcons. Needless to say, there's a lot of it to recap. Over at Canal Street Chronicles, blogger Saintsational chats with an Atlanta blogger and discusses the Falcons. Vinnie Iyer at the Sporting News picks the Saints. Charles Odum at the Associated Press talked with new Falcon Aaron Stecker who predicts that the Falcons will find Monday's atmosphere crazy. Christopher Gordy wonders if this Saints team is one of destiny. And over at the Yahoo! Sports blog, MJD is beginning to believe that Reggie bush is "completely ornamental." 2 CommentsLeave a comment |

All this talk about the fact that the Saints "could" go undefeated is fine and dandy and we all know it is theoretically possible, but we are GETTING WAY AHEAD OF OURSELVES HERE.
AND THIS TALK OF THE SAINTS HAVING NEARLY 100 PERCENT CHANCE OF MAKING THE PLAYOFFS IS PREMATURE. It actually plays into the hands of our opponents. All the saints are guaranteed is that they will be no worse than 6-10. They are guaranteed NOTHING AT ALL.
If I am Mike Smith, I am giving Michael Turner, Roddy White, Matt Ryan, Tony Gonzalez and all my boys the Saints headlines that show that Reggie, Pierre and the Saints think they can beat us twice (even in the Georgia Dome), and everybody else for that matter.
I realize Reggie and Pierre's comments were taken out of context, but the Saints need to KEEP GROUNDED and SHOW SOME RESTRAINT and WISDOM.
I agree that it is good to walk with a swagger, but it is not smart to declare one's self God's gift to football or a "Team of Destiny" until AFTER ONE HAS WON A SUPER BOWL. The 2007 Patriots learned that painful lesson the hard way. LET'S AT LEAST GET TO THE SUPER BOWL before we start making grandiose declarations. It is time to stay humble, to stay grounded in reality, to stay focused and to stay hungry.
That being said, I also recognize that an undefeated season is possible, and no city deserves it more than New Orleans. I'll be there Monday Night screaming my LUNGS OUT FOR OUR BOYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO SAINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the saints are having a good start this season.i say if they want to be undeafeated they have to want it.get it and win it.i think they have a chance here you guys.see when they do lose all the fans get dissapointed,u have to be a die hard fan and stick with them.they might lose a few games,so what.all good teams do.no one is perfect.i myself can't wait for monday night football.
