« Second-round pick Porter carted off field; Henderson injured |

| Day 5: List of those not practicing grows »
Morning Session: First off, those who didn't participate in practice Monday morning were Mike McKenzie (knee), Josh Bullocks (knee), Tracy Porter (hamstring), Devery Henderson (hamstring). Bobby McCray was limited with back spasms. Bryan Young participated fully this morning, the second time he has gone full since training camp began. Deuce McAllister and Jeremy Shockey all went full go. McKenzie is expected to practice this afternoon for the first time. Now, onto the practice. Cornerback Usama Young easily had his best practice of camp and easily was the one player who stood out the most Monday morning. He had three interceptions, picking off Drew Brees, Mark Brunell and Tyler Palko. He was an equal opportunity pick artist. At a position that is probably the tensest of any in camp, that's what has to happen for someone to take over with the first team. Highlights: -CB Usama Young intercepted QB Drew Brees in 1-on-1's, taking advantage of a slow wobbly pass from Brees while covering Arrington. -Young broke up a pass from Brees to WR Curtis Hamilton, not biting on a double-move by the receiver. -WR Terrance Copper dropped a pass that hit his hands while running a route inside the 5. -Young intercepted QB Mark Brunell in the end zone on a pass intended for WR Lance Moore. -Arrington dropped a pass from Brunell in the front corner of the end zone with CB Greg Fassitt in coverage. -Randall Gay tipped a pass from Brees to himself, intercepting the pass in the red zone. -Young intercepted QB Tyler Palko by stepping in front front of Hamilton. -A play later, CB Jason Craft intercepted Palko in the end zone. Practice resumes today at 4:20 p.m. 5 CommentsLeave a comment |

Looks like Drew won't have as easy a time in practice as in the past. Is Copper the one on the bubble?
To me, it looks like Devery Henderson could be the odd man out. Copper has done nothing but catch balls this camp and Devery is, well, Devery. If it comes down to Copper and Devery, I expect the team to keep Copper around. He's valuable in the special teams, as well.
Just look at Devery's stats from the last 6-7 games of '07 - they speak for themselves. His inconsitencies have to be accepted now (how many years has he been with the team ???) as just Devery, and Devery has proven to NOT be NFL caliber...sorry, but need the roster spot for someone more consistently productive......or better stated dependable!
What is the obsession with Palko? The guy played like a bum in preseason leaving a lot of his receivers out there to dry, and he has constantly thrown ints in practice. There has to be a better third string out there.
Devery might consider switching to defense seince he's so good at kocking passes down. Opps! Did I say that out loud. Not that I could do better.
