Saints agree to terms with Mehlhaff, Arrington

Slowly, the Saints are getting their 2008 draft picks on board.

After getting on the same page with defensive end DeMario Pressley late last week, New Orleans has come to an agreement with place kicker Taylor Mehlhaff and receiver Adrian Arrington.

Mehlhaff, the Saints' sixth round draft pick, is the first kicker selected by New Orleans since the franchise took Morten Anderson in 1982. Those are some big shoes to fill, but he has a history that says he could do it.

He hit 50-of-65 career field gals, going 21-of-25 as a senior, a year in which he was a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award, given annually to the nation's top collegiate kicker.

Arrington, New Orleans pick in the seventh round, comes from Michigan where, as a junior, he was named the Desmond Howard Award winner as the team's top receiver.

In 35 games, he caught 109 passes for 1,438 yards and 16 touchdowns.
