More or less what Jim Henderson says: He fills such a big need. Hollis Thomas is on his last leg. Brian Young is injured. There's no one behind them that could be a starter. They finally have to address the mistake they made on Jonathan Sullivan several years ago. If you miss with a high pick, you eventually have to come back and address that as soon as you can. Every defense will tell you it starts with stopping the run. This guy can play for a long time. He's played in one of the best conference's in the country. This is exactly what I thought they'd do. They'd make a run for Dorsey, and if they couldn't get him, they've move up to get Ellis. As for the trade, that's good. It's certainly a lot cheaper than it would have been to get Dorsey. For that, they were talking about getting rid of Jamaal Brown and picks. They got off on the cheap, especially if this guy is nearly as good as Dorsey. 3 CommentsLeave a comment |

Well, I hope he's as good as they think. I still believe they are messing up not getting a top notch corner.
Saints are getting hammered with the deep ball. It's mind boggling that we didn't address the corner issue. Our top priority for the last two years have been cornerback and we've made mistakes signing free agent corner's who haven't played to their potential.
Todd, I agree with you in a way. But I also agree with Jim. Part of the Saints problem in the back has been that up front, they get very little pressure. Your secondary is going to get hammered regardless of how good the players are if the quarterback has all day to pick them apart.
That said, I would be surprised if the Saints don't try to make some sort of move to shore up the secondary at this point.
I'm thrilled that they addressed the deficiency in the D Line. Thomas and Young are good players, but they're declining. This pick will finally put to rest the mistake of Sullivan a few years ago. I felt that #10 was too high to pick a corner (as it was when we picked Molden at #10). The pass rush we'll be able to generate now should make it MUCH easier for the D-Backs to cover.
