The Chicago Bears picked up Tulane's Matt Forte with the 13th pick of the second round and 44th overall. General consensus among me is that it would have been nice for the Saints to be able to draft Forte, but New Orleans needed defensive players and that's what it took. Yeah, it would have been a good story for Forte to stay in town and play for the home team, but the Saints aren't in a position to necessarily send warm cookies and milk to players and fans. New Orleans had needs to fill and Forte didn't fit. Besides, Forte likely will have a good chance to do some big things in Chicago. The Bears' running game isn't very good right now and Forte can really help out there. If picked by New Orleans, he's looking at fighting Reggie Bush, Aaron Stecker, Pierre Thomas and everybody's all-American Deuce McAllister. 1 CommentsLeave a comment |
