Having an "off year" would be putting it mildly for some Saints fans, but Jason David's lack of success has been quantified for analysis thanks to the Football Outsiders. According to them, David is worst in the league defending against the pass. Yikes. By contrast, Mike McKenzie ranked fourth highest against defending passes. Just makes that injury all the more crippling for the passing defense. 2 CommentsLeave a comment |

The fact that Jason David has remained a starter really makes me question Sean Payton's judgment. I have said several times that Fred Thomas, although really terrible, is NOT as bad as Jason David. Now the statistics back me up. The Saints had better MAJORLY OVERHAUL their entire Defensive Backfield in the off season, or 2008 will be another dissappointment. They need to do what the 49ers did when they drafted Ronnie Lott ... that is, spend a bunch of Draft Choices on DBs.
Although many components are at work in defining the Saints disappointing 2007 season, the blame should be placed upon the shoulders of tiny, ineffective Jason David. He gave up too many big plays that led to other big plays, and ultimately, losses. Jason David is like the turd in the pool. Everyone is out of the pool pointing and shouting "Ewwwwww!" Sean Payton is the only one in the water still swimming. Wake up, Sean and get rid of this loser NOW!
