Joe Horn rips Payton

Joe Horn, who was very quiet prior to facing the Saints in the Superdome, is now sounding off, blaming Sean Payton's ego for the Saints' struggles.

Of course, Horn hasn't exactly been smoking since signing a reported 4-year, $19 million deal with the Falcons. Even with their quarterback problems, Horn's stats - 22 receptions for 203 yards and 0 touchdowns - despite starting in 9 of 12 games, seem meager.

Joe Horn is just a big blow hard. I dont think any really cares what he says. He's old news

Any Saints fan should be ashame of themselves, for booing Joe. When Joe was here he gave it his all every down. After Katrina, Joe gave himself to the community.Witch he didn't have to do. For the fans that booed Joe, they were the same ones prasing him ever time he scored. These people are two-face and doesn't deserved to be called Saint fans.

Joe Horn wasn't just a Saints player, he was a Saints Fan. He meant a lot to this team and city. The people who booed him have no class or appreciation. This would be a better team with his leadership on the field. Hopefully, this year will be a humbling experience for Sean Payton.

I have LONG felt there was a lot of truth to what Joe Horn is now saying. Not playing him in the NFC title game last year just didn't make sense, even though he was banged up. The NFC title game is a ONCE IN A LIFETIME opportunity, and when you get that opportunity, you let it all hang out -- you leave NO STONE UNTURNED. I really do wonder if his playing in that game would have made a difference. With the Saints having a 1st and 10 on the Bears' 29, DRIVING forcefully, (down 14 to 16 in the 3rd Quarter) Sean Payton called three straight passes. All three passes were incomplete, and one of them was above the outstretched arms of Terrence Copper, Horn's backup. We wound up attempting a long field goal for the lead (on 4th down), which was woefully missed by that kicking legend, Billy Cundiff. We never threatened again and the rest is sad history.

GOD ONLY KNOWS what might have happened had we scored down there and gone up 21-16. The Bears were reeling after Reggie's 88 yard shock and awe of a swing pass play. The Stadium was QUIET. Where was Joe Horn? In plain cloths I think. Why? Only Sean Payton and Joe Horn know the real answer to that one.

Both Joe Horn and Sean Payton obviously have huge ego issues. But it really looks like Sean Payton has the bigger issue, because as a head coach, it is his job to NOT have an ego so big that it hurts an entire team. I always thought dumping Joe Horn like yesterday's trash was a mistake. And I think he would still be very productive for the Saints if he still wore the black and gold. Defenses have keyed on Colston because we do NOT have a clutch second reciever. JOE HORN WAS A CLUTCH RECIEVER, ego or no ego ... he remains one of the all time leading recievers for the Saints.

In the end, I fear Joe Horn is right about Sean Payton. From a viewer's standpoint, it really does appear that Payton wants to run the team HIS WAY, with little or no counsel from anyone. I believe he has miss managed MANY personnell decisions, including getting rid of Joe Horn, bringing in and sticking with Jason David, dumping John Carney, badly miss-using the talents of Reggie Bush, drafting a number one wide reciever who hasn't played ONE SINGLE DOWN, not drafting more strongly on defense, etc.

In the end, I hope and pray Joe Horn is wrong about Sean Payton. But with the Bucs losing today, I couldn't help but think -- if Sean Payton wasn't such an arrogant so and so, we would PROBABLY wind up Division Champions AGAIN, and maybe, just maybe right back in the NFC title game. Had we not CHOCKED against Tampa last week, that would have been our reality. Had we not BLOWN the first Carolina game (not to mention blowing the Houston game) that would be our reality.

All we can do now is wait and see, and pray to God Joe Horn is wrong.

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU TED B. SEAN PAYTON WILL BRING THIS TEAM DOWN FURTHER. LAST YEAR WE HAD A FAVORIBLE SCHEDULE. PLUS DUECE WAS HEALTHY THE WHOLE YEAR. HIS PLAY CALLING IN KEY SITUATIONS IN THE GAME IS SUSPECT. JUST LIKE THIS YEARS DRAFT PICKS. HE ALMOST GOT REGGIE'S KILLED LAST YEAR IN THE PLAYOFFS AGAINST THE EAGLES. WHEN HE CALLED THAT SCREEN PLAY ON THE FIRST PLAY OF THE GAME. LAST WEEK AGAINST TAMPA. WE HAD LIKE THREE 3RD AND 1'S AND HE BRINGS IN 4 W.R. SETS. THAT'S BASICALLY LETTING THE OTHER TEAM KNOW YOU DON'T TRUST YOUR RUNNING GAME. SCREAMING TO THEM WE'RE ONE DIMENSIONAL. GOOD PLAY CALLERS DON'T SHOW THEIR HANDS LIKE THAT. I DON'T EVEN WANT TO TALK ABOUT THAT REVERSE CALL. IF THAT'S NOT EGO IN THAT SITUATION I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS. SOMEONE SAID HIM AND GRUDEN WERE TRYING TO OUT DO EACH OTHER WITH THEIR PLAYCALLING. AND IT LOOKS LIKE CHUCKY WON THAT EGO BATTLE. OTHER TEAMS WATCH FILM AND THEY KNOW WITH CERTAIN PESONNEL PACKAGES WHAT PLAYS ARE LIKELY COMING. IT LOOKS LIKE THE REST OF THE LEAGUE HAS FIGURED OUT SEAN'S PLAYCALLING AND HIS TENDENCIES. AS A LIFETIME SAINTS FAN. I HOPE I'M WRONG IN MY JUDGEMENT OF HIM. BUT MY OBSERVATIONS HAVE STEERED ME TO THESE THOUGHTS. AND JOE HORN. WE COULD SURE USE YOU THIS YEAR. THIS MUCH I KNOW. STILL A SAINTS FAN BUT NOT A PAYTON FAN.

Sean Payton is doing a great job and made a great decision when releasing Horn. Horn did not play the whole season and did nothing to help out with winning the games of last season. I do agree he does has some leadership skills, maybe they should have place him on the coaching staff. Keep up the good work Sean and continue to cut players that do not contribute to the Saint's. Also I want to say to all the Saint's fans, let give a little respect to our former Saint's (Jake D. ,Joe H.,& Morton A.)

I'm a saints fan who now lives in Dallas, and I just want you to know that what Joe Horn said is believe to be true. I was listening to the sports radio the other day and the on air guys were saying that sean payton was reacting to joe's comment by telling them to go in atlanta's locker room and ask him to compare his numbers to david patten, and his salary, and all that kind of stuff. This tells me what type of person sean payton really is.
