The New Orleans Saints have acquired LB Scott Shanle from the Dallas Cowboys for an undisclosed draft pick in the 2007 NFL Draft. Entering his fourth season, Shanle has been one of the Cowboys' top special teams performers since joining the club in 2004 and has also started 11 of 37 games in his career. The trade is pending the player passing a physical. Shanle (6-1, 240) opened eight of 1... Kenny Gomez of Houston, a major Saints fan, is upset about the negative comments following the team's preseason game against Dallas. ...(AP) - Reggie Bush spiced things up with a 9-yard run and an 11-yard gain on a third-and-2 screen, both on the final drive of the first half. He finished with 7 yards on four carries, 14 yards on two receptions -- and disappointment that the starters didn't do better. "This isn't the old Saints any more," he said. "We need to take three-and-outs personal. We need to change our way of thinking. We need to keep our defense off the field.... (AP) - Those in the crowd of 45,162 who were rooting for the Saints didn't have much to cheer about, at least not after Deuce McAllister ran for 8 yards on two carries in his first game since a knee injury early last season. Jamar Nesbit will get the start at guard, but... According to the San Diego Tribune, the Saints have contacted the San Diego Chargers about a trade for linebacker, Donnie Edwards. The report says the Saints are offering a 4th round pick for Edwards, but the Chargers are not biting. San Diego wants a 2nd round pick for the 33 year old linebacker. ...In his 3 starts for the Saints in 2005 quarterback Todd Bouman completed 56 percent of his passes, but his touchdown to interception ratio was 2 to 7. Not the type of production a NFL head coach looks for. |
